Most of the time our parents convince us to pursue higher education to land a good job. However, things seem to be changing now. You don’t need to have a college degree to be successful. It is seen in India that most students opt for higher education so that they can get a well-paying job. But you can choose other alternatives as well. You don’t need to have a college degree for such jobs. Presently, there are some jobs available that prioritize your skills over everything else. In this article, we would look at some job alternatives you can land without a three years college degree. 

1) Software Developer 

Software developers (synonymously software engineers) are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing software programs that you regularly use. They fix and improve existing programs, testing and deploying programs, and producing efficient code based on specifications. It is a flexible career option that would get you a good salary. However, you need to be skillful to get the job. The job requires a degree in computer science, but presently most companies would hire software developers without a degree if they’re highly skilled. 2) E-Commerce Manager 

Indian millennials do more than 60% of their shopping online. You do require a Bachelor’s degree to become an e-commerce manager but a high school degree would also do the job until and unless you’re skillful. 

3) Digital Marketing and SEO Manager 

Digital marketing and SEO (search engine optimization) managers ensure that the content is search-engine friendly and optimize the company’s visibility. They have to develop and execute SEO strategies and further lead a group of SEO specialists. One has to proficient in standard and current SEO practices, know HTML|CSS, and familiar with different efficient SEO tools to apply for the job. You can either work as a freelancer or choose to work full-time in any organization. The position requires a three years college degree in digital marketing or other related subjects but a high school degree would also work.

The good thing about being a professional YouTuber is that you don’t need any degree and there’s no age limit. Starting a YouTube channel can be challenging but once you start getting views then there’s no turning back. You can make a lot of money simply by staying at home and creating engaging content. 

6) Makeup Artist 

This is another great field to try out your luck. There are endless possibilities for a makeup artist. You can work as a freelancer, open a salon, work as the assistant of famous makeup artists or work for celebrities. Makeup artists are highly in demand and the salary these artists get is jaw-dropping. You just need to keep up with fashion trends and you’re good to go. Entry-level certified ethical hacker earns up to 3 lakhs in a month which gradually increases with time. Being an ethical hacker will guarantee a good salary with minimum risk. 

9) Writer 

If you like creating stories, write for hours, and reading books then choose to become a full-time writer. Though you need to be skilled to stand out amongst millions of writers, at least it doesn’t require a degree and there’s no age limit to it. You can also choose to write for websites and blogs. When we talk about technical writing, then the field is expected to grow 10% by the year 2024. So, there is a huge scope in technical writing as well. You can either work as a freelancer or full-time. The pay scale is good and you can work from home

Farmers are responsible for feeding the masses. Choosing a career in agriculture would not only benefit you but you’re working day and night to end poverty in your country which is an honorable task. If you like country life then you can choose this field. As per one study, farming offers more satisfaction than any other job. Many economic factors discourage the youth to take up farming. But there’s a great scope to it. Agriculture offers a wide range of job opportunities including horticulture, poultry farming, and many more.
